Can you turn that down please....
In most parts of this country that statement would probably be directed at music played to loudly. But this is Arizona. And Arizona is hot. You can't hear the radio being played in the car next to you because everyones windows are up and a/c blasting. Hell, most of us have tint on our windows and can't even see the other drivers.
Its been nice the last two days. Under 100. Rare. However someone turned the furnace up because over the next 48 hours the temperature is going up 15 degrees. That means over a 110 and closer to 115 degrees. Thats in the shade. Black top parking lots will be around 130 degrees. Getting into your car after it sat in direct sunlight for a few minutes and your looking at about 148 degrees.
So why all this farmers almanac stuff, you think to yourself. Well because 115 degrees is unusual, well not here but probably where you live. I try to plan something around the first 115 degree day of the year like running a half marathon or long ride. Maybe the unusual thing this year is to do nothing?
I better start thinking.

You mean running a 1/2 marathon starting at 4 AM, right? Or maybe you meant somewhere other than where you live? That is entirely too hot!
There was someone at Sharkfest in a bright orange AZ Tri Club top. That's your club, right?
i'm so glad i'm tapering and i don't have some crazy six hour ride tomorrow!!!
Ummm... would swimming make too much sense?
:-D
All together now:
"But it's a DRY HEAT."
The voice of reason, Greyhound. You always have been. Irregardless of my own personal hydration issues, heat doesn't bother me like it used to here in Arizona. A few summers back I was standing in my parking lot talking to someone and after about 15 minutes, maybe a bit longer, we parted ways. I got inside the building and someone remarked I was leaving smudges on the tile.
My soles had melted standing out there.
No wonder you are Iron Commodore - you live in a furnace!
You might feel disappointed if you didn't do anything - I second 21CM's suggestion :)
Let it be known, you are insane.
BUT IT'S A DRY HEAT!!
Gads, I do not miss heat training.
Except in the fall.
Ouch! Now dry or humit, that's HOT. Makes me feel betta about the heat here in tropical Singapore.
something else to do on a hot day:
you could try blowing some new glassware - or -
smelting some new steal parts for your car - or -
pulling out all the electronics on old motherboards for recycling (weak) - or -
Comm's, it was 112 in the hot tub at the pool the other day, and I was mystified at how people actually sat in it for any length of time!
(But I was born in Winnipeg where folks are known to say, "But it's a dry cold!")
On the next 115-degree day, why don't you just go directly to the local hospital emergency room, and save yourself the trouble of running 13.1 miles and collapsing and all that?
I'm just sayin'....
