I've been pushing the limits of my endurance my whole life. I've been called a UNcommon man for my relentless pursuit of doing something bigger than I (or most) could possibly imagine. As a soldier, a marathoner, ironman triathlete or hiker, nothing is extreme enough. Finish lines are great, but the true adventure is what it takes to get to the starting line.

crap! I've been refreshing like a gambling addict at a poker machine in vegas! Sorry Comms...recover well, and fight another day!
Sorry comm, Recover friend
I'm right there with ya pal. I'm so sorry to hear that.
I was pulled off after my second bike loop. It was a rough day to say the least.
ah man! Keep us posted with how you are doing
Sorry to hear that, Comm's. I'd been wondering, watching the "Track an Athlete" and knowing that you were well beyond the bike cutoff.
I do wish you the best recovery and hopefully some brilliant insight that will allow you fly the next time around.
Like Bigun, I have been refreshing fanatically... I am very sorry to hear of this great disappointment, but YOUR DAY WILL COME! You take care of yourself now...
So sorry to hear about you being in rough shape...get better! Everyone still loves you and there will always be a race SOMEWHERE to do!
It must have been BRUTAL out there today!
Dude - hope you are okay. xoxoxo

Ironman giveth and Ironman taketh away.
Tough day out there with the wind and sometimes things just don't go the way they should.
You are still the man you have been striving to be and that's the most important part of all.
Hope you are ok! I was checking on you all day! Rest well!
Hey, man - rest up and feel better. there will be other times.
I am glad to hear that you are ok. With your history of head bashing, I was a little concerned when I heard that you had to pull out.
You'll get it next time.
I'm not just saying that.
You're still iron, and there will be other races.
Man, I was watching and checking all day. Sorry today wasn't your day, but hang in there and you'll get it done.
I've been checking in on you all day - sorry this didn't go the way we all wanted to. I hereby authorize a tantrum, should you feel the need to throw one.
Sorry about that. Take the time you need to rest and heal. Another day...
Sorry to hear your day ended too soon. Get better soon.
Been following along all day as well, get some sleep my friend... we're here for ya.
Hang in there. I'll be praying for you. You are an inspiration to us all. Keep us posted.
Take care,
Melissa
Sorry to hear it, Comm. Get some rest and take care of yourself!
Sorry to hear about your difficulties but glad that you will be around to battle another day.
IM AZ just seems to excel at providing exceedingly brutal conditions.
saw the temps and was wondering. look forward to the details. we love you.
As a fanatic of Marquette basketball, and MU superstar D Wade, I think this video is very appropriate...

You may be out this year Comm, but you know what you got to do.....
Don't know what to say Comm, except that I'm hurting for you over here. But I know you'll be back. You are still my hero.
Hard to know what to say, except you are an inspiration to others, and blogland is rooting for you!
I was hoping they loosened up after we saw you on loop three. Rest up buddy. It was rough out there I I was just watching you. Remember, you are an IronMan.
Comm's, I am so disappointed for you! But I'm glad you're alright, and grateful you took the time to let us know. Feel better!
Hey Comm, best of recovery for you. We are here when you need us.
There are good days and bad days... recover well my friend.
I hope your heart will be encouraged by the 30+ comments here.
Sorry all didn't align for you. Glad you took the opportunities to encourage others to chase their dreams. Best recovery wishes.
So sorry to hear this, Comm. Rest up--we are still rooting for you no matter what.
As you know, there will be tons of other races...i'm sure you did what you needed to do at the time and that's the sign of ONE intelligent guy!!
We love you Comm...rest well!!
Looking forward to hearing your story when you're back at it - but in the meantime I just wanted to say that it took courage and good sense to call it a day in the face of a body that wasn't cooperating. Yep, it's only one day and one triathlon, and you have to race with the cards you're dealt on one day. It makes perfect sense to cut your losses and stay healthy for many other races to come.
Sorry to hear that the day didn't go your way. I hope by now you're feeling better and that you're recovering well. Take care!
Sorry Man!
There is always Nov. Right?
Rest up and hydrate.
Like so may others I am so relieved to know you used your good sense and knew when to stop. That is a really tough thing to do. We'll be talking with you soon. Thanks for letting us all know where you were and that you were okay.

I'm si sorry to hear that breathing is painful.
The only consolation I can offer is that if I had not failed in my first two Iron attempts, I never would have succeeded in the third. Sometimes, it's part of the journey. We don't always know the Plan beforehand, but in the end we'll understand.
Hang in there Comm. It DOES look like the conditions were pretty brutal. Hope you get better quickly. Ang and I love you.
Comms, I'm so sorry to hear things did not go well for you during the race. Don't make any rush decisions. Just focus on getting well again. I'll be thinking about you.
