Odd question
Just a fun little question...
Whats the oldest piece of clothing in your closet and why haven't you got rid of it?
Mine is a half marathon tank top from 1993 because I PR'd that race. I never wear it but still it sits in my drawer.
Just a fun little question...

I've been pushing the limits of my endurance my whole life. I've been called a UNcommon man for my relentless pursuit of doing something bigger than I (or most) could possibly imagine. As a soldier, a marathoner, ironman triathlete or hiker, nothing is extreme enough. Finish lines are great, but the true adventure is what it takes to get to the starting line.

Underwear....
Until it has enough holes in it, i ain't getting rid of it (so far it is still holeless ;) )
my training bra- cause i never grew out of it.
An old long-sleeve flannel shirt from circa 1990. I still wear it occasionally and will never be without it even though my wife hates it. I brought my daughter home from the hospital when she was born wearing it and the first picture of me with her I'm wearing it. She still calls it the Daddy Shirt. That is priceless.
Cliff you need to start treating your underwear like smoke alarm batteries- change out every six months by the book, once a year in reality.
Stronger/Mipper- I hope you both do. Mipper, I have a feeling you wrote a comment answering for about 100 million people (can I add them to my site meter?)
Bridget- What your husband has no mocking clothes? I think not, wear away.
Steven- I was hoping for a comment like that.
I have no sentimental clothes...
i have a two year rule -- once a year i check my closet, if i haven't worn it in two years -- it goes to Goodwill.
amazing the garbage bags full of stuff that appear year after year.
I don't keep much sentimental stuff. The oldest thing I have is my finishers T-shirt from the 1998 Great Floridan Triathlon...had to keep that since it was my first IM.
the oldest thing I have in my closet is my sons clubs scout uniform....
I assume you mean oldest thing I ever wore new, right? Stuff I got vintage doesn't count?
Well, there's my high school graduation dress and the Laura Ashley outfit I got on my 18th birthday. Those date to 1985 and I've held onto them for sentimental reasons.
I also have a crinoline from the short-lived rockabilly fad in the early '80s. Was that '83? I kept it in case I ever need a crinoline, you know. Duh.
My prom dress and my 8th grade graduation dance dress are both at my mom's house. So is my high school letter jacket. I don't know if those count.
I guess I'm just a sentimental fool. Please don't tell anyone, though!
I have my wedding dress...from 1980. And a wedding dress my exhusband brought me back from China in the 80s--thought I'd save it for a Halloween costume some day.
I think I have a tank top in a box under my bed someplace from when I was like 10. I remember it used to be my sisters and I liked it, but I used to swim in it because it was so huge when I was young. I finally grew and was able to fill it out. I don't know why I keep it. Nostalgia, I guess?
Dress Blue Uniform from the Marines. 1988. Still fits (but didn't for a few years!).
1991. Vassar Parliamentary Debate Tournament tee-shirt gotten when yours truly placed 6th of 60 + teams, which helped me get in the World Parliamentary Debate Championship Tournament that year in Dublin. OK, I'm a geek, go ahead and say it. But not the type who carried around files and files..this was *parliamentary* debate. OK, OK, with even just the fact I explanied that, one coudl still argue the geek thing...gotcha.
